“Uttor Bordol” is a village which is located on Kamrup (rural) district, Assam. The village is 8 km away from Rangia town. We visited the village with the aim of doing ASER Survey, by Pratham Foundation.
ASER (Annual Status of Education Report) is a household survey, facilitated by Pratham Foundation related to Education.
The transport system to the village “Uttor Bordol” from the main town is very poor. The village is on the bank of the Puthimari river. Most of the families are poor and surviving with farming. There are only two L.P. School in the village. The students and guardians are very much enthusiast about education. But the lack of facilities are the main hamper to get proper education and good exposure of their talent. In our survey, except two students among sixteen all at very much weak in Geography, History, and Quantitative reasoning.
In the age of ” Digitalization” there are many houses in the village which doesn’t have electricity. This kind of villages tell the dark side of the so called development happening in the biggest democratic country in the world.
